I am selling a home in MA in which a garage was conveted into an in-law apartment. A permit was never pulled by my father in-law. We purchased the home from him, and he has since passed away. We are now trying to sell the home and the buyers (rigthfully so) are asking that a permit for the in-law be recorded with the deed.

My question is simply, how do I, and what is typically involved in getting a "after the fact" permit? Does the building inspection usually frown upon this? Any help is greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks!
