(Dorchester County, MD) February 5, 2009

Dorchester County, Maryland released their permit numbers for January of 2009 today.  The January permit report released by the Office of Permits, Inspections and Licensing showed there were 16 permits issued for a total valuation of $486,400.

A Building Permit Should Be Forever
Do not ever throw away your copy of the building, electrical, plumbing or mechanical permits, issued for your home, especially for any remodeling or alteration projects. The existence of this document will help you close the sale of your home, if any questions should arise regarding the competency of the workmanship. Make sure you check with your contractor and have the permit posted on the jobsite. This is required by law.

If you did not make sure you had a licensed contractor do the work, there probably was no building permit issued. If you do not see a building permit posted by your contractor, call your local jurisdiction to inquire if a permit has been issued.
